Congratulations to those who have advanced on to national competition at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis Oct 26-29, 2022. The chapter was named a National Premier Chapter in Strengthening Agriculture. This places Richland 44 in the top 10 in the nation, with members interviewing this fall for a chance to earn national championship honors. Kalie B. and Cody B. each advanced to the National AgriScience Fair competition. The Small Animal Care team will compete in the National FFA Veterinary Science event. Team members are Kalie B., Nick W., Cora H., and Cody B. 2022 State FFA Convention June 2022 On June 6-9, 2022, the Richland 44 FFA chapter attended the 93rd annual North Dakota FFA State Convention. The convention was held at North Dakota State University with over 1,400 members across the state attending. Richland came home with a variety of awards, including receiving gold in Food for America, the Community Service Outstanding Chapter Award and the National Chapter Gold Superior Chapter Award. The Small Animal Care team placed 1st in the state and will be advancing to nationals. Members included Cora Hermunslie (3rd/gold), Nick Wulfekuhle (4th/gold), Kalie Boehm (14th/gold), Cody Boehm (18th/gold) and Eric Moen (27th/gold). Five members competed in the Agriscience Fair. Taking first place in their category were Addie Christensen – Division 5 Plant Systems, Cody Boehm – Div. 1 Food Production/Processing, Kalie Boehm Div. 5 Food Production/Processing, and Trinity Ringdahl Div. 5 Food Production/Processing. These four members will be submitting applications for the National Agriscience Fair. Skylar Olson also competed in the Agriscience Fair under Social Systems Division 5 and received silver. Multiple members also competed for proficiency awards, with two being state champions. Trinity Ringdahl in Equine Entrepeneur and Kiersten Boehm under Agriscience Research – Plant Systems will advance their applications to the national level. State finalists included Drew Gunness in Diversified Crop, Rylee Hendrickson in Landscape Management and Adam Skoog in Turfgrass Management. At convention, Emma Heyen, Trinity Ringdahl and Keagan Neppl were recognized with their State FFA Degree, the highest honor awarded to students at the state level. Vice President Nick Wulfekuhle, Secretary Emma Heyen, Treasurer Otto Dockter and Reporter Addie Christensen submitted their officer books for review and all received gold. Richland 44 FFA members competed in other Career Development Events. Wade Gorder competed in Intermediate Ag Mechanics (8th/g), and Adam Skoog competed in Advanced Ag Mechanics (s). The Nursery/Landscape team of Nick Wulfekuhle (8th/g), Alison Heyen (s), and Hannah Malaterre (b) placed 9th (s). Skylar Olson (4th/g), Ella Weinmann (s), Addie Christensen (s), Cora Hermunslie (s), and Taylor Gowan (b) competed in Ag Communications and placed 9th (s) as a team. Emma Heyen (g), Lila Viele (s), Genevieve Ulven (s), and Abbie Fischer (b) placed 13th (s) as a team in the Floriculture event. The Environmental/Natural Resources Team of Isabel Viele (g), Addie Christensen (s), Otto Dockter (s), Trinity Ringdahl (s), and Hannah Malaterre (b) placed 15th and earned a silver rating. 2022 State FFA Convention June 2022 On April 1, 2022, Richland 44 FFA held its 26th annual banquet. Current members, family, friends & alumni attended. At the banquet, the 2021-2022 officer team finished up their year. This team included President Eric Moen, Vice President Nick Wulfekuhle, Secretary Emma Heyen, Assistant Secretary Alison Heyen, Treasurer Otto Dockter, Assistant Treasurer Keagan Neppl, Reporter Addie Christensen, Assistant Reporter Ella Weinmann, Sentinel Kalie Boehm, Assistant Sentinel Hannah Malaterre and Community Relations Wade Gorder. The newly elected 2022-2023 officer team includes President Eric Moen, Vice President Nick Wulfekuhle, Secretary Alison Heyen, Assistant Secretary Isabel Viele, Treasurer Otto Dockter, Assistant Treasurer Cody Boehm, Reporter Addie Christensen, Assistant Reporter Taylor Gowan, Sentinel Kalie Boehm, Assistant Sentinel Cora Hermunslie and Community Relations Wade Gorder. At the banquet, members handed out a variety of awards, including ones for Career Development Events, District Leadership Events and Degree pins. This year the chapter awarded the Honorary Chapter Degree to Mark Gorder for his continued support. Outstanding members were Star Discovery Cody Boehm, Star Greenhand Kalie Boehm, Outstanding Sophomore Nick Wulfekuhle, Outstanding Junior Addie Christensen and Dekalb Award Emma Heyen. Since the banquet, the State FFA Proficiency finalists have been announced. Finalists from Richland 44 FFA include: Agriscience Research - Kiersten Boehm, Diversified Crop Production - Drew Gunness, Equine Entrepreneur - Trinity Ringdahl, Landscape Management - Rylee Hendrickson, and Turfgrass Management - Adam Skoog. On April 28, Richland 44 FFA hosted an AgriScience Career Day event. Fifteen members competed in the AgriScience Fair. Addie Christensen received 1st place, Kalie Boehm took 2nd, Cody Boehm earned 3rd, and Tanner Zander placed 4th. In the AgriScience poster competition, 20 members participated with Carter Pfieff placing 1st, Mallory Gunness taking 2nd, and Kylie Kummer earning 3rd. |
